Review: In the pack hierarchy, Ria is as close to the bottom as you can get. Half human/half-werewolf, with nothing to show for it. No enhanced sense, no ability to shift…nothing but a passionate love for her pack…and it’s Alpha.

OMG…I loved this book. With both interracial and paranormal being hot genres, at the moment, it would have been really easy for Chudney Thomas to fall into the trap of stereotypes and clichés. Instead, she’s created a world with just a touch of suspense, enough heat to keep me turning the pages, and characters that made me care about them.

Ria has no idea just how valuable she is to the pack. And the idea of being with Drake seems more like a fantasy than anywhere near a possibility. But, Drake has waited, and not so patiently, for Ria to grow up and be ready to take her place as his Alpha Mate. Now he just has to get her used to the idea. Throw in a few rogue wolves and some designer drugs and this is a fabulous story.

The writing is really well done. My only issue was with plotting. As much as I enjoyed the book, I didn’t feel like I got a proper ending. But, neither was it a HFN. It just felt like someone clipped off the last chapters. But maybe that is Chudney’s evil plan to get me to buy the next installment of the Central Florida Pack. 

Review: And so starts a series that promises fun, action and some serious romance. The Sons of Anubis is the new series by Seressia Glass with the first book Seducing the Jackal making an impressing debut.

The core of the story is a new take on the ancient Egyptian myths focusing on the god, Anubis, protector of the dead, and Isis, goddess of motherhood, fertility and magic. The Sons of Anubis and Daughters of Isis in this lore have been allies once upon a time, fighting side by side with the Sons hunting the unwilling dead and taking them back to the afterlife and the Daughters protecting/healing the Sons. However a tragedy severed the bond that once united them and now, through four millennia the Jackals and the Priestesses are in animosity.

This story begins with Markus, the leader of the Jackals, kidnapping Tia, a Daughter of Isis, in order to make her undo the curse that has befallen onto two of his brothers. Markus is convinced that the Daughters have cursed his Jackals for revenge and Tia, although willing to help, cannot agree with him, even though all evidence leads to that conclusion. To make matters worse there is this huge sexual intensity between them, something they haven’t felt before. But the Jackal and the witches are enemies and anything between them is impossible… Isn’t it?

This story really appealed to me. I cannot help melting into a puddle when ancient myths are involved and I have to say this take is more than alluring. The power chemistry between Markus and Tia is absolutely wonderful. The story starts with a great deal of animosity putting both characters simultaneously into a fight mode and enhancing their appeal. But, when the hormones start flying and the sexual intensity rises, then there is this fantastic spark that electrifies the entire plot and you with it.

Tia as a character is brilliant, what with her powers being hidden beneath and manifesting in huge amounts the more her passions grow. As for Marcus, dear gods, what a character, how magnificent. Makes one wish he wasn’t a fiction character, but indeed alive. I loved them both and boy, did they feel perfect for each other.

The story becomes even better when action takes place and the fighting, that I wouldn’t have expected, actually happened. I think that is exactly what made me a fan of this newborn series. The fact that it has more depth and action than just romance. I can’t wait to see how the story will continue. Hooking indeed.

So I will recommend this to all you that love a good romance tinged with some action and back by a brilliant lore, all wrapped in crackling heat and intense sensuality.

Review:  Is it me, or does every other paranormal book you pick up involve a mating heat that the main characters are helpless to control?  What happens when you find your mate, but the timing sucks…major?

Shyla Colt has written a fresh take on finding a mate.  When Phelan found his mate, he immediately recognizes The Wanting for what it is.  He also knows that his mate is too young, so he waits. Years of crushing on her old professor don’t make finding out he’s her destined mate any easier for Zasha.  She has her own reasons for running from the Wanting.

This was my first Shyla Colt read and I’m not going to lie, I did have some readability issues early on, but that was editorial stuff.  The premise of this book was great; the dialog highly erotic and the overall pace for the romance nice.

I look forward to more from this author in the future and have no doubt she will be a strong voice within the paranormal genre.
